CHAMPIONSHIP DAY

End of the Season Celebration and Championship Day is June 9th

Issaquah Little League has a lot to celebrate this year-great baseball, good times and new artificial turf fields. Join us Saturday, June 9th to celebrate with your team at our end of the season party at Dodd Field. Between noon and 1:30pm, we will have a baseball bash that includes:
  • A short ceremony beginning at noon to thank our sponsors and donors for making the new artificial turf fields possible. Each ILL team will be recognized and take the field while the IHS band plays baseball-themed songs. (Please arrive by 11:45am.)
  • Games and contests such as a dunk tank and speed pitch booth to measure how fast you can throw. Dunk your coach or your biggest rival!
  • Free food! Hot dogs, chips, drinks and more.
  • Rhubarb, the Tacoma Rainiers mascot, and other surprises.
  • Championship baseball games before and after the bash. AAA and Coast play in the morning followed by the Majors in the afternoon.
What better way to celebrate your season than by having a party already planned and waiting for you! Bring your team out, bring some blankets to sit on, watch some great baseball, and enjoy our incredible baseball community. See you June 9th.

ISSAQUAH JUNIOR 14U TEAM IN FIRST PLACE!

The Issaquah Little Leagues Junior 14 year old team is atop the eight team District Nine Junior 14 division with a record of 9 wins and 2 losses. The team is a composite of Issaquah and Bellevue Thunderbird players.

Last Saturday, Issaquah beat a good Giants team from Redmond by a score of 4 to 1. Colton West, Bryce Hughes, Connor Schilling, Chris Vandermolen and AJ Riley combined for the pitching win. Great pitching and defense was the key to the Issaquah victory. Issaquah shut down the Giants running game, pitcher West picked a Giants runner off of first base, then catcher Vandermolen threw out at second a Giants runner attempting to steal. Catcher Thomas Sikkema also threw to third base to pick off a runner at third. While Issaquah shut down the Giants' running game, Issaquah runners advanced almost at will, with numerous steals of second. Josh Eastern, Johnny Starcevich and Hughes all also swiped third base to set up the four Issaquah runs. Starcevich lead the Issaquah efforts at the plate with 2 hits in 3 at bats. Hughes, Schilling, Eastern, Vandermolen and West each had one hit a piece.

AJ Riley came in to pitch with two outs in the last inning and the tying run at the plate. With one pitch, he got the batter to ground the ball back to the right of the mound. AJ made a great play diving to his right, stopping the ball and from his knees threw the runner out at first to end the game.

Issaquah combines a potent offense, outscoring their opponents in eleven game 133 to 46 with solid pitching, great defense and a first class running game.

TURF AT DODD FIELD

What started off as a dream over a year ago has become a reality. Spearheaded by the countless hours put in by Greg Crockett and Matt Miller, along with friends and families of Issaquah Little League who all share the extreme distaste for baseball played in mud, turf fields are being installed at Dodd Field North and Dodd Field South in preparation for the upcoming 2012 Little League Season. Follow our progress here.
